Ritter Medical is a leading producer of high quality sterile robotic consumable parts for automated laboratory liquid handling systems. Ritter’s range of robotic consumables includes pipette tips and sampling plates.

Pure clean origin

Ritter laboratory consumables are made in Germany from certified pollution-free plastics. Riplate® and Ritips® ultra-pure construction materials eliminate risks of residues or additives falsifying the results of highly sensitive analyses, etc.

Riplate® range

A new generation of consumable sampling plates and collecting vessels is needed to meet the demands of modern continuous robotic automated liquid handling and analysis. These vessels need to provide increased volumes per well to support two different samples in one cavity or magnetic separation of samples.

Ritter Medical developed its Riplate® robotic plates and Riplate® medio special plates to meet these modern laboratory requirements with amplified well diameters and higher volume per cavity to allow faster application processing.

All plates comply with Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS) standards and feature an alphanumeric coordinate system to allow samples to be clearly assigned and identified.

The Riplate® range features seven main variants, each one tailored to a specific application.

Riplate® PCR

Riplate® PCR is especially developed for automated Polymerase Chain Reaction analysis, where vessels need to be suitable for fluorescence measurements in order to measure quantitatively DNA retrieved by the reaction. Riplate® PCR is constructed from pure polypropylene (PP), either transparent, black or titanium dioxide dyed white for optimum reflection.

Riplate® PCR is very well suited to High Throughput Screening (HTS) as well as manual DNA analysis with features that include careful surface texture design to ensure complete flow of sample liquids to the bottom of the tubes, reducing dead volume while thin-walled PP wells ensure high heat transmission and minimize condensation.

V-shaped cavities allow a high recovery of samples and permit an optimal adaption to common thermocyclers. Raised rims provide a large variety of suitable sealing methods and prevent cross-contamination.

Riplate® 96

Riplate® 96 well systems are manufactured out of highly transparent polystyrene, providing optimal surface for microscopic analysis.. They are ideal for all prevalent pipetting automated systems as well as for all 8- and 12-channel pipettes, with standardized 128 x 85 mm dimensions compatibie with most common laboratory robotic liquid handling machines. They can be sealed with adhesive or heat-sealing films.

Riplate® 96 provides working volumes of 240–350 μl per well in U-, V- and F-bottom well shapes, with sterile versions available on request.

Riplate® 384

Riplate® 384 plates are optimized for smaller sample volumes with a 3mm high frame for stable and slip-free stacking. Higher well rims avoid cross-contamination and allow better closure of plates with adhesive foils.

These plates feature round cavities for reduced capillary forces and are available in transparent polypropylene (PP) format for storage applications, as well as clear, white and black polystyrene (PS) formats for microscopic, high luminescence and fluorescent polarization applications. The latter offer a choice of flat well bottom for microscopic and optical applications or V-bottom for maximum sample recovery.

All Riplate® 384 plates provide working volume of 30–50 μl per well.

Riplate® medio

Riplate® medio optimizes storage capacity with compact 20 or 27mm high formats that allow stacks to occupy less than half the height of conventional plates. Their higher well rims allow airtight closure or sealing, while alphanumeric marking allows registration and identification of single samples.

These plates feature conical wells for excellent bioturbation.

Riplate® medio plates provide total volume of either 0.65ml per well and working volume of 30–500 μl per well or 1,2ml with a working volume of 50-1000ul.

Riplate® SW

Riplate® SW (square well) plates have been developed to optimize sample capacity on a standard SBS footprint. Form follows function, with construction of cavities recognized as crucial for a maximum absorption of liquids. Parallel thin-walled cavities ensure maximum sample storage per well while remaining contamination-free.

Pure polypropylene and lubricant-free construction assists immaculate and secure analysis in chromatography and other high-sensitivity analyses.

Riplate® SW shape supports adhesive film/foils or heat-sealing. However capmats are available for closed well applications and sealing. Significantly, the comparatively high specific well volume allows capmat sealing without risk of liquid displacement and cross-contamination.

Riplate® SW is available in three formats: 2ml u- bottom or 5ml and 10ml centrally tapered bottom for greater working volume (up to 9.9 ml). Capmats are available for all three SW variants:

Lamination film

Ritter can supply manual sealing film in SBS format to support storage, PCR, protein crystallization freezing specimen growth and other applications. Films are available in seven different materials: aluminum, polyolefin, PE, PP, or gold coloured aluminum with properties tailored to suit applications (DMSO or fumigation resistant, peeling without residue, solvent or biological resistance, high tearing slice, etc.).

dataMatrix rack

Modern sample management needs new disposables for the archival storage of individual samples. Therefore, Ritter Medical has added the new line of dataMatrix racks to its robotic consumables range to enable retention of all necessary data for each individual sample.

The dataMatrix rack is made from low binding virgin high transparency PP and features internal screw thread for secured sample locking. Each tube is equipped with a unique white on black data matrix code that is easily legible for all common scanners. Tubes and bottoms are produced by patented wet-on-wet-process, to avoid any separation of the two components due to mechanical or thermal influences.

Internally, the tubes have a U-bottom for low dead volume. Racks are SBS stackable with locking lids. Linear barcode can be provided on the edge of the rack where needed.

The dataMatrix racks are manufactured under ISO 8clean room conditions and are certified free of DNA, DNase, RNA, RNase and endotoxines.

Ritips® range

Precise automation of pipetting processes requires high-quality pipette tips with specific characteristics to meet different applications. Ritter Medical meets these varying application needs with its wide Ritips® range of device-specific consumable conductive and transparent tips.

Ritips® are purpose engineered to meet specific machine requirements while providing consistently excellent precision, hygienic standards and price-performance ratios.

Ritter robotic consumable tips are available in two ranges.

blackKnights conductive tips

Electrically conductive tips have become essential for many robotic systems and applications. The conductive tip material allows the robot to sense the change in resistance when the tip is immersed into liquid, signaling that it is safe for suction to begin. This avoids any air bubbles, allowing the sample to be gathered cleanly, even with minimal immersion and with wells filled to different levels.

Ritter offers its SBS standard blackKnights conductive tips in ten sizes, ranging from 10 μl to 1,100 μl, and in more than 60 different bag or tray packages: with or without filter, blister or cardboard packaging.

Some sizes (10μl, 50μl, 200μl and 1000μl) are also available in non-sterile formats as well as in bioclean (pre-sterilized) form.

blackKnights tips are supplied in three types:

  • Tecan format
  • Qiagen format
  • Hamilton Microlab© Star Line format

clearKnights transparent tips

Clear (transparent) pipet tips are preferred in fluid transfer applications where it is necessary to visually check gathering of sample, to ensure non-foaming, for example.

Ritter’s clearKnights transparent tips provide a high quality and cost-effective supply of consumable tips across almost the whole range of commonly used laboratory robotic sampling and liquid handling systems.

Supplied in six sizes, ranging from 20 μl to 1,100 μl, clearKnights are available in more than 60 different package formats: with or without filter, blister or cardboard packaging.

clearKnights tips are supplied in three types:

  • Tecan format
  • Qiagen format
  • Beckman Coulter, for Biotek instruments
