Overview

In addition to inorganic mineral compounds, Magnesia offers a wide range of organic mineral salts. These salts, derived from Magnesium,Calcium, Zinc, Potassium, Manganese and Iron, exhibit high bioavailability for pharmaceutical and dietary supplements. Organic mineral products are of well-documented quality and are certified to ISO and HCCP standards.

Features and Benefits

All Magnesia organic mineral salts are formulated for purity and high bioavailability.

These pharmaceutical grade compounds comply with international pharmacopoeias (EP, BP, USP, etc.) as well as the regulatory standards for the production and distribution of food products (E numbers for food product additives, FCC etc.). Magnesia products in this class are suitable for the production of pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic products.

All mineral salts are supported by a full range of documentation confirming provenance and production quality, along with health benefits confirmed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

All products are certified as compliant with ISO and HACCP standards. GMP is available on request as well as pharmaceutical documentation such as CEP or DMF/ASMF.

Magnesia maintains high stock and service levels, with samples and orders delivered within short time.
These features deliver obvious overall advantages in product quality and lower manufacturing and marketing costs.

Applications

Magnesia’s most widely used organic mineral salts are as follows:

Calcium chelate
Chelated calcium is bonded to amino acids to allow the human metabolism to absorb it more easily than other forms of calcium in nutritional and food supplements.

Calcium citrate
Calcium carbonate used to be preferred for calcium supplements but recent studies have shown that calcium citrate is more bioavailable, showing up to 50 per cent greater serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) suppression, one of the principal measures of absorption, over calcium carbonate.

Calciumglycerophosphate
Calcium glycerophosphate is a relatively new dietary supplement that appears to offer the same health benefits as its precursor, calcium phosphate, which is important for healthy bones and teeth. One of the best documented health benefits associated with calcium glycerophosphate is checking interstitial cystitis, a bladder inflammation condition associated with diets high in acidic foods.

Magnesium chelates
Binding magnesium to a negatively charged anion in two or more places forms a magnesium chelate that is more likely to survive the passage from the stomach to the small intestines intact and be more successfully absorbed in the intestinal tract. Health benefits include lowered risk of congestive heart failure and heart arrhythmia, treatment of type-1 and type-2 diabetes, reduced frequency and severity of migraine and alleviation of uterine cramps.

Magnesium citrate
Magnesium citrate is used medicinally as a saline laxative and also as a dietary supplement to regulate acidity. It is recognized as the most bioavailable non-food form of magnesium. Organichydrousmagnesium citrate (1:1) contains one magnesium atom per citrate molecule and is a magnesium preparation in salt form with citric acid that is exceptionally soluble. Magnesia can also supply tri-magnesium dicitrate
that contains three magnesium atoms for every two citrate molecules which is more alkaline, and contains higher concentrations of magnesium.

Magnesium glycerophosphate
Magnesium glycerophosphate is a dietary supplement taken by those with low levels of the mineral magnesium. Healthy levels of this mineral help proper digestion and are essential for good nutrition, strong bones and nerve function.

Potassiumgluconate
Potassium is a mineral that is found in many foods and is needed for several body functions, especially health heartbeat. Potassium gluconate is used to prevent or to treat low blood levels of potassium (hypokalemia) as the result of a disease or prolonged illness with diarrhea or vomiting.

Zinc citrate
Zinc citrate is compounded from zinc and citric acid. It is a highly bioavailable way to absorb zinc, which is a mineral naturally found in shellfish, beef, chicken, nuts, yogurt and milk. Zinc is recognized as beneficial for fertility, growth, healing of wounds and sores, bone strength and combating the effects of the common cold. Because the human body does not metabolize zinc naturally, it is necessary to absorb it through foods, water or zinc citrate nutritional supplements.

Zinc gluconate
Zinc gluconateis the zinc salt of gluconic acid; an ionic compound consisting of two moles of gluconate for each mole of zinc. Zinc gluconate is a popular form for the delivery of zinc as a dietary supplement, for example in lozenges to treat common cold systems. It is also recommended for treating spots and skin blemishes.
