Isochem to attend the 3rd Annual Speciality and Agro Chemicals America Event

Vert Le Petit, France: -The upcoming Specialty and Agro Chemicals America annual event in Charleston, USA will be Isochem’s first exhibition since the recent announcement that it had divested the Hungarian-based Framochem Kft business that specialized in manufacture of phosgene and a wide range of phosgene derivatives including chloroformates, acid chlorides, and carbonates.

The sale of Framochem and its associated German sales office Isochem Deutschland GmbH to VandeMark Chemical Inc. was announced on August 1.

The sale represents a key milestone in Isochem’s strategic development, allowing the company to focus on its core business of custom synthesis and high technology manufacturing in multi-step chemical synthesis.

New strategic path

“Our future path will focus on investment in organic growth and looking for potential acquisitions to strengthen our core businesses,” declared Xavier Jeanjean, Isochem’s Vice-President for Sales and Commercial Development.

As part of this strategy, Isochem acquired UK-based Wychem in 2012, generating significant additional revenues in 2013 and allowing expansion of Isochem’s range of intermediates, particularly aromatic compounds. This acquisition created significant synergies, with Wychem’s ‘‘kilolab’’ concept constituting an additional resource for the joint development of intermediates, allowing the business to grow significant new business in attractive market segments. Late last year, Isochem announced it had successfully expanded processes at Wychem, which provides a large range of specialist aromatic compounds that require diazotation, bromination and iodination reactions.

Isochem plans to use its second appearance at the Chemicals America event, where it will be exhibiting at Booth 45, to explain how the Framochem divestment assists its long-term strategic plans.

Exploring acquisitions

“We will be explaining to our close partners and long-term customers that the sale of Framochem does not mark a retreat so much as a change of direction, and indeed an advance into more modern businesses,” said Mr. Jeanjean.

Isochem has successfully also scaled-up processes in its French GMP units to supply the increasing needs of customers for specific halogenated aryl compounds. These intermediates are mainly used in C-C coupling reactions for the synthesis of pharmaceutical New Chemical Entities (NCEs).

The third annual Specialty and Agro chemical event, Chemical America 2014, will be held from September 8-10 at the Marriott Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, USA.

The Chemicals America-organized forum focuses on products and technologies that have specific applications for the agrochemical and specialty chemical manufacturing markets, covering a wide range of end-uses including pharmaceuticals, fragrances, flavors, cosmetics, food and beverages and plastics.

The event will feature more than 120 exhibitors, including Isochem, and is expected to attract more than 800 delegates.
