Overview

IntroTech can supply a comprehensive range of 3M MonitorMark™ time temperature indicators that can be used to monitor and protect any product that exhibits time temperature abuse sensitivity.

Time temperature indicators are used primarily in conjunction with secondary packaging (case, box, etc.) in order to monitor storage and distribution conditions or to evaluate packaging.

Applications

MonitorMark™ indicators are easy to use ‘self-adhesive’ labels that help users monitor the temperatures in the cold chain for products like drugs, vaccines, blood substances or ophthalmic solutions where temperature excursions at any stage of the supply chain can seriously compromise quality and safety.

The 3M MonitorMark range monitors exposure to temperature excursions over extended periods, to take cover of storage, transportation and hand-over.

The indicators monitor temperature exposure, not product quality. Their purpose is to signal when product quality should be checked due to temperature exposure. The MonitorMarks are available in 7 different thresholds, they all have specific run-out times. The indicators work cumulative. The run-out time is not the time the indicator works. You can leave a MonitorMark on a product for 20 months for instance. The MonitorMark will only show coloration when it was exposed to a too high temperature. When the temperature drops below the response temperature the coloration will stop and continue again when the temperature rises above the response temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster the coloration.

Areas of application for Temperature Monitoring indicators include foodstuffs, active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceuticals and bioceutical products and many other applications.

Features

Time temperature indicators monitor temperature exposure, rather than product quality. Their purpose is to signal when product quality should be checked. Some typical applications include monitoring of products in transit and storage and providing a temperature audit trail for quality assurance purposes.

The 3M brand MonitorMark™ Time Temperature Indicator is a rectangular flat laminate containing layers of paper, film, adhesive and other components. Overall size is approx. : 95mm x 19mm x 2,38mm (3,75” x 0,75” x 0,094”).

The heart of the indicator is a porous wick indicator track strip, one end of which is positioned over a reservoir pad containing a blue-dyed specialty chemical with the desired melt point.

The indicator function is initiated by removing the activation strip separating the indicator track from the reservoir. A paperboard layer over these components contains viewing windows, topped with a clear protective film layer.

A pressure-sensitive adhesive on the underside of the indicator allows convenient attachment to most clean, dry surfaces.

MonitorMarkTM time temperature indicators will show initial color in 24 hours or less when exposed to the stated temperature threshold with accuracy of +/- 1°C When exposed to a constant temperature 2°C above the threshold temperature for a time period equal to the stated cumulative run out time, the run out distance will be within specification limits.
